Scottish Liberal Democrat Climate Change spokesperson Alison McInnes MSP today praised Deveron Arts after the Huntly charity was awarded Scottish Government funding for its work on sustainability.
'Sustown Huntly' is an initiative proposed by Deveron Arts which will inform people about individual and community actions that can make a difference in the battle against climate change. They have received £47,318 to make it happen.
Mrs McInnes said: "Deveron Arts understand that community based responses to the challenges of climate change are the most effective solutions. Top-down approaches will be less likely to succeed if people are alienated from the climate change agenda.
"Initiatives such as this provide an opportunity for everyone in Huntly to come together behind an urgent cause, which in turn will reinforce the great sense of community in the town. It's 'think global, act local' in action.
"I am very grateful to Deveron Arts for committing themselves to this project, and I look forward to seeing what comes of it."
