Aberdeenshire MSP Alison McInnes today welcomed the Council's expansion of paper recycling facilities.
Mrs McInnes said: "This is great news. It's not just about decreasing wastefulness but it also simplifies things for Shire residents.
"Lib Dems are committed to tackling the 'out of sight, out of mind' approach to waste. Aberdeenshire is another Liberal Democrat controlled Council leading the way with recycling, and it has demonstrated a commitment to continuous improvement in this area."
Lib Dem Councillor Peter Argyle, Chair of the Council's Transport and Infrastructure Committee, said: "Anything that diverts waste away from landfill and back into productive use is to be welcomed. I am glad that we have been able to secure this arrangement with Shotton Paper Mill."
Shire residents will now be able to include greeting cards without glitter, telephone directories and Yellow Pages, windowed white envelopes, travel tickets and receipts in their paper recycling.
This is in addition to the previously accepted brochures, catalogues, leaflets, newspapers, magazines, office/printer paper, and white or grey card.
