Commenting on the Competition Commission's report about BAA's "dominance" of Scottish airports, Liberal Democrat Transport spokesperson Alison McInnes said:
"The airport network is crucial to the Scottish economy and the tourism industry. Scottish passengers should be able to fly direct from Scotland to their destination. This is not only what consumers want but it is also less environmentally damaging than funnelling passengers through already over-crowded London airports. It's critical that this is facilitated and encouraged by Scotland's airport network.
"Given that BAA owns Scotland's two busiest airports and has invested heavily in Aberdeen airport, the Scottish Government must make sure that the company is fully committed to this principle.
"It's really important that the interests of passengers to and from Scotland's airports are protected."
