McInnes backs calls for more epilepsy nurses

North East Scotland MSP Alison McInnes today backed a campaign for improving epilepsy care in Scotland.
After signing a motion in the Scottish Parliament backing the More specialist nurses, better epilepsy care campaign, Mrs McInnes said: "There is insufficient access to specialist care for people with epilepsy. Currently where you live determines the standard of care you get, and this is unacceptable."
The motion, tabled by Hugh O'Donnell MSP, describes access to specialist care as a "postcode lottery".
Mrs McInnes added: "Increasing the number of specialist epilepsy nurses is not only good for people affected by epilepsy, it will actually relieve consultants and free up hospital beds so that treatment can take place more effectively at home or in the community."
