McInnes praises award-winning Ellon farmer

Alison McInnes, the Liberal Democrat MSP for North East Scotland, hailed the achievement of an Ellon farmer who was this week awarded with a national farming prize in Dunblane.
Ms McInnes has written to David C. Smith, of Cloffrickford Farm, Auchnagatt, Ellon, congratulating him after he was awarded the National Farmers' Union John Miskelly Award. The award recognises Scottish farmers who have shown outstanding service to the sector.
Mr Smith, who has been farming for 36 years, held the post of New Deer NFU branch Chairman on several occasions and was a successful recruiter for the NFU.
Ms McInnes commented: "Mr Smith is an example of someone who acts locally to bring about national change, and it is very appropriate that his tireless work should be recognised with a national award."
