Alison McInnes today welcomed news of a lucrative deal for Scotland's Remploy Factories as an example for other public contracts with social enterprise.
The £6M contract between the MOD and the company, who provide employment opportunities for disabled people, will give substantial work to the Dundee factory.
"This is a great success for Remploy and promises much needed security for employees in Dundee," said McInnes. She added, "The key to continuing success for Remploy is this kind of public sector deal and I hope that public bodies will continue to recognise the quality and value for money that social enterprises like Remploy offer. I welcome the MoD contract and hope that other companies will follow suit."
The North East Liberal Democrat is a member of Parliamentary Friends of Remploy and recently actively campaigned to ensure the survival of Remploy's Aberdeen factory.
