North East Scotland MSP Alison McInnes has welcomed the decision by Remploy to remove the threat of closure from their factory at Aberdeen.
Following consultations with trade unions and action from local campaigners, Remploy have submitted their final proposal to the Secretary of State - with 15 factories, including Aberdeen, taken off the list of sites to close.
Commenting, Mrs McInnes said: "This change of heart is fantastic news for the factory's workers, many of whom have given many years of loyal service to Remploy.
"It is a great credit to the work of local campaigners that the management have listened to them and removed the threat that was hanging over the Aberdeen factory.
"Now it will be up to the public sector and local businesses being prepared to place orders with the factory, so that Remploy can continue to offer their excellent and unique employment opportunities in the North East."
